It was a big week at the house. Three brand-new books hit the shelves on Friday, and they could not be more different from one another, which is exactly how I like a launch week: something for the reader who wants to be scared, something for the reader who wants to be charmed, and something for the reader who wants to laugh until the coffee comes out their nose.
So this Saturday, here is the whole shelf, sorted by the mood you are actually in.
If you want a murder that should not be possible: The Honest Man, by Jessie Clark. The most admired prosecutor in the city is found dead in his locked study the night before he was going to unseal the biggest corruption case in its history. Gun in his hand. Confession glowing on the screen. The whole city wants it to be a tragedy. That rule lasts right up until she finds a beloved old professor dead on the bench out front, and she is the only person in town who can tell it was not a heart attack. Sweet, dry-witted, slow-burn, and the first in a brand-new paranormal cozy series. Mind the cat.
If you want to laugh: The Night Shift Witch, by Jennie Wren Foster. A burned-out ER nurse discovers she can heal the supernatural. One catch: every monster she saves gets magically, permanently bonded to her soul. Now she has a grumpy vampire who keeps faking injuries, a fae life coach she did not hire, and a two-hundred-year-old vampire queen with the temperament of a Yelp reviewer who has been wronged. Paranormal romcom, open door, guaranteed happy ending.
